One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp

My friend Kristie is an extraordinary friend, wife, and mother. I have had the pleasure of knowing her for many years now and she has always been a kind hearted person full of life and placing God at the center of things. Recently,  I asked her to help get our Quiet Corner going with a few book recommendations since I know for a fact she has recommended some of the best Christian based books I have ever read.

The first such suggestion is called One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. I have not yet read this book but will be starting as soon as I post this. I would love to have others read along with me and maybe we could start a discussion here in our forums for this book. If you have already read it, Great! We can all talk about in our message boards. After reading the brief description of Ann Voskamp’s quite tragic life story and her  connection to finding joy in God when at times it seems nearly impossible to do so, this book looks like it can reach out to all of us, especially mothers.

“The laundry keeps piling up, dishes never end, kids fight and people die.  But regardless of circumstances, the dare of the “gift list” shows Voskamp a way to live even through the dullness and hurts of life.  Through the aches and triumphs, she finally sees what she’s been missing, something that so many women can’t seem to find in their everyday lives.”

I have this book on my nightstand right now. A friend gave it to me and I started reading it but life got in the way. I’d love to have a book buddy. I’m in:)
